Our family has been involved in the sport of soccer for nearly seventeen years.<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n

Wow<\/em>\u2026that doesn\u2019t seem possible\u2026<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Being involved for as long as we have, it also doesn\u2019t seem plausible that the expressions and fans\u2019 shouts aren\u2019t rote.<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Then, again, I don\u2019t call this segment Annah-isms for nothing\u2026<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cOne coming hard!\u201d and \u201cA man on!\u201d are two common expressions spectators shout from the sidelines to let a player know a challenger is hot on his trail.<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a rare occasion you\u2019ll find me shouting helpful hints because, even after all of these years, I still am not sure about all of the rules and technicalities.<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Mama Elizabeth, as the kids have been known to call me, considers her roles simply to be those of Cheerleader and Chief Cookie Maker.<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n

But for some odd reason, at last week\u2019s Senior recognition game, I shouted out to one of our top scorers, \u201cChris, you\u2019ve got<\/em><\/strong> a hard on<\/i><\/b>!\u201d<\/span>

I realized it as soon as the words tumbled from my tongue.<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Warren turned to me with a grin and said, \u201cAnnah, you might want to be careful how you say that.\u201d<\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The player\u2019s mother, who was sitting in front of me, recording the game as part of a video they were producing for her son to send to colleges, turned to me with an even bigger smile on her face. \u201cI knew what she meant,\u201d she chuckled.<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n
<\/span><\/div>\n
If any of those hard working boys heard my little slip, they certainly didn\u2019t acknowledge it.<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n
<\/span><\/div>\n
From here on out, I\u2019m sticking to \u201cGood work, Team!<\/b>\u201d<\/span>
