Parenting can be a tough gig.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

And Tough Love an even rougher ride.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

But it\u2019s all a vital part of parenting, an essential element in <\/span>teaching our children about the important stuff in life. You know, stuff like vajayjays<\/em> and other things, like how to fish<\/span><\/a>\u2026<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

As such, I loved reading this Circle of Mom\u2019s piece on one mother\u2019s creative approach to dealing with her daughter\u2019s bullying<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/i>.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Seems the daughter was harassing another student about the way she dressed, tormenting her so much that the young girl didn\u2019t want to come to school anymore.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

And this mother didn\u2019t let any excuse stand in her way of helping her daughter learn how it felt to be \u201con the other side.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

This Good Mom packed her child off to the Thrift store for a new wardrobe.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

BRAVO<\/i>, Mom!!<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

The story reminds me of a time when Fave was revealing his spirited side, giving us a run for our money.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Um, no.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

More like giving us headaches.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

And weekly visits with his principal.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

We had reserved seating in her office.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Unlike the girl in the aforementioned article, my son was never mean-spirited.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Quite the contrary, he was the class clown.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

And hell-bent on challenging an arm\u2019s length of rules he deemed stupid.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

His raucous and rebellious behavior bled into pretty much every aspect of his life.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

After one too many incidents of horseplay, his driver informed us that if she had to reprimand him one more time, he\u2019d be suspended from the bus.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we get home,\u201d I said to him on the way home from his after school sports activity, \u201cyou need to pull out the phone book and call the taxi service.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhy?\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBecause, that\u2019s how you\u2019re going to get back and forth from school,\u201d I told him, \u201cif you\u2019re kicked off the bus. And you need to know how much it\u2019s going to cost you.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

One of my many Mama Mantras is \u201cI don\u2019t blow smoke up anyone\u2019s ass.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

(And a shameful little plug \u2013 but I\u2019ve not been blowing smoke anywhere<\/i>since <\/span>I kicked addiction to the curb<\/span><\/a>. Six-and-a-half years ago! BEST. THING. I. EVER. DID!)<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

My boy knew I wasn\u2019t messing around.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Walking and biking aren\u2019t viable options, at least not for our twenty-first-century lifestyles.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Our house is ten miles from that building.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Yep. It\u2019s hilly.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

And living in the northeast, there\u2019s also plenty of snow.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s ten dollars,\u201d he said as he hung up the phone. \u201cEach way.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

I watched as all that tens mathematics practice was finally put to practical application.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s a hundred dollars a week!\u201d he gasped. \u201cI don\u2019t have that<\/i>kind of money!\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWell, guess you better start looking for a job or cut the crap so you don\u2019t get kicked off the bus, huh?\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Problem solved.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNow, what shall we have for dinner?\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/o:p><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n
