I love the beauty of a fresh snowfall, especially the kind that stays on the ground for a while, the kind where you can still see white after the soot and salt trucks have turned the roads an icky gray.<\/span><\/div>\n

This week has produced several squalls and significant accumulation.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

On vacation, I have watched the magnificence unfold from my warm and cozy corner of the world.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n
Looking down our road during a recent snowstorm<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/span> <\/div>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n
Ornament on my front porch<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/span> <\/div>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n
One of the plants I didn\u2019t cut back in the fall<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/span> <\/div>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n
Birdhouse that hangs outside my office window in the spring and summer<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
When nighttime blankets the outer landscape, the spectacular show comes inside as the icicles on our tree twinkle and glow in the lights of the season.<\/span> <\/span><\/div>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
And rising above all these other joyful moments, this takes the cake.<\/span><\/div>\n
<\/a><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
My favorite dessert.<\/span><\/span>

Carrot cake.<\/span><\/span>
<\/span>
<\/span><\/span>
Not just any carrot cake, though.<\/span><\/span>
<\/span>
<\/span><\/span>
A handcrafted confection I grew up with.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span>
One made from the finest ingredients: <\/span>my mother\u2019s hands and the type of love that only a mom can give.<\/span><\/span>
<\/span>
<\/span> <\/div>\n

I can just hear Frosty shouting out: \u201cHa-ppy bir-thday!\u201d<\/span>
<\/span> <\/div>\n
