We are human.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Later that day I opened the conversation with Warren and Big Guy, both of whom related to the opening quote simply as &#8220;Don&#8217;t regret not doing something.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In other words, if you want to do something, don&#8217;t <em>not<\/em> do it.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t let something&#8211;anything&#8211;stand between you and your dreams or desires.<\/p>\n<p>If you dream of being a college graduate, then do it.<\/p>\n<p>Apply. Attend. Achieve.<\/p>\n<p>Want to quit smoking?<\/p>\n<p>Stop smoking.<\/p>\n<p>Want to lose weight?<\/p>\n<p>Think: Quantity. Quality.<\/p>\n<p>Want to be healthier\/fitter?<\/p>\n<p>Move more.<\/p>\n<p>Sounds simple, right?<\/p>\n<p>It is.<\/p>\n<p>It is also equally complicated.<\/p>\n<p>If we let it be.<\/p>\n<p>There are often numerous realistic and perceived obstacles we must navigate around.<\/p>\n<p>They all boil down to one thing: Obligation.<\/p>\n<p>Obligation to: Finances. Family. Friends.<\/p>\n<p>And yet, each of those is manageable and mold-able.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ll come back to the How shortly, but for now, let&#8217;s look at the second, more subtle side of regret.<\/p>\n<p>Those times when we go to bed angry; are so caught up in something we&#8217;re working on we forget to say I love you as our children or spouses go out the door; we make a promise that we can&#8217;t keep&#8230;don&#8217;t pick up the phone to let someone know we&#8217;ve been thinking about her&#8230;miss warning signs that someone we care about is having a difficult time&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em>Live your life without regret<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It is impossible to live our entire life without regret.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are human.<\/p>\n<p>We make mistakes.<\/p>\n<p>We fail.<\/p>\n<p>We struggle.<\/p>\n<p>So, then, if we regret is a natural part of our existence, how do we move forward with confidence and clarity?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" title=\"The Five Steps of Healing\" href=\"http:\/\/annahelizabeth.comthe-five-facets\/the-5-steps-of-healing\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Five Steps of Healing<\/a><\/span> is based around one simple premise: <strong><em>Choice<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>At any given time we can <strong>choose<\/strong> to alter the course of our behavior.<\/p>\n<p>We can recognize that <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" title=\"The Choice Between Yes and No\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thefivefacets.blogspot.com\/2014\/08\/the-choice-between-yes-and-no.html\" target=\"_blank\">when we say <em>Yes<\/em> to one thing we are saying <em>No<\/em> to something else<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>At any given time <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" title=\"TEDx Speech The Power of What If\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=IHU4yWGuEcg\" target=\"_blank\">we can choose to alter the course of our thinking<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Healing doesn&#8217;t deny the existence of what has or has not happened, it is simply an acceptance that we can be okay in its presence or absence.<\/p>\n<p>That, Journeyer, is the key to living our best personal, professional, and philanthropic life, even in the face of adversity.<\/p>\n<p>Learning to live with regret is equally key to living a fulfilled life&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>What about you, Journeyer, tell us how you live with regret!<\/p>\n<p>Until next time, yours in hope, healing, and happiness&#8230;<\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"color: #ff99cc;\"><strong>~AE<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<h1><span style=\"color: #ff99cc;\"><strong>          <a style=\"color: #ff99cc;\" href=\"http:\/\/thefivefacets.blogspot.com\/2010\/07\/saying-goodbye.html\">Soon\u2026<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;Live your life without regret.&#8221; That thought popped into my head while driving to work this past week.
