Cameron<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Journeyer, as I reflect on last week, the one designated for &#8220;Giving Thanks,&#8221; I can&#8217;t help but ponder Cameron&#8217;s quote above.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">For many of us, the act of giving thanks takes place in the kitchen where we bake pies, baste turkeys, break out the fine china, and then nearly bust a gut as we stuff ourselves to overflowing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">&#8220;My grandma makes TWELVE PIES!,&#8221; one of my students exclaimed on our final day before the break.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I know I&#8217;ve been guilty of this very same thing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">But last week Fave made a post that caused me to pause. It went something like this: <em>How much more American does it get than to represent the U.S. in Texas on Thanksgiving Day?<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/annahelizabeth.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/2015-Worlds-Fave-Entering-Stage.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6830 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/annahelizabeth.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/2015-Worlds-Fave-Entering-Stage-e1715644215275-300x131.jpg\" alt=\"2015 Worlds Fave Entering Stage\" width=\"300\" height=\"131\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">For the past fourteen years this lad has trained his body and his mind to reach physical limits that few will ever achieve. He&#8217;s not only dreamt of one day representing our great nation on the Olympic stage, he&#8217;s defied many odds on the road to one day making that dream a realization.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Thanksgiving. A national day of food and family and for many of us, a day off from work.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Thanksgiving. An act of celebrating the harvest of all that we&#8217;ve sown and all that&#8217;s survived the elements.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We did all of those on Thanksgiving Day, Journeyer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We celebrated American pride as we watched this elite athlete take the stage.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We cried when a freak injury literally took him to his knees and out of the competition.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We were filled with gratitude for the medical team who evaluated our boy, provided needed supplies, and made the necessary arrangements for further testing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">And then we sat down at someone else&#8217;s table, fourteen of my family members from all four corners of this great nation and a few friends, to nourish our bodies, to commune, and to appreciate all that we have, individually and collectively&#8230;Americans.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/annahelizabeth.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Thanksgiving-Dinner-2015-Houston.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-6829 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/annahelizabeth.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Thanksgiving-Dinner-2015-Houston-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Thanksgiving Dinner 2015 Houston\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">With a slice of pumpkin pie to round out the meal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">What about you, Journeyer?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Did your Thanksgiving Day arrive in the form of noun, verb, or both?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Until we meet again, yours in hope, healing, and happiness,<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff99cc;\">              ~Annah Elizabeth<\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cThanksgiving, after all, is a word of action.\u201d ~ W.J.
