{"id":380015,"date":"2017-05-14T00:22:36","date_gmt":"2017-05-14T00:22:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staging.annahelizabeth.com\/index.php\/2017\/05\/14\/may-we-all-be\/"},"modified":"2017-05-14T00:22:36","modified_gmt":"2017-05-14T00:22:36","slug":"may-we-all-be","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.annahelizabeth.com\/index.php\/2017\/05\/14\/may-we-all-be\/","title":{"rendered":"May We All Be"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Happy Sunday, Journeyer!<\/p>\n<p>For all you Mothers, whether you hold a child in your heart, your dreams, or your arms, Happy Mother&#8217;s Day to you!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/annahelizabeth.com\/2017\/05\/and-so-it-is\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Last week I wrote about about manifesting intention<\/a>, how I worked on changing my thinking to change my situation.<\/p>\n<p>But this past week has been all about creating a state of being, one based on the art of Metta Meditation.<\/p>\n<p>Metta Meditation is also known as loving kindness meditation; a practice of compassion or well wishes for all.<\/p>\n<p>I recently learned about this practice in a meditation class I attended.<\/p>\n<p>The premise is to get comfortable, close your eyes, and to create a series of statements that begin with &#8220;May I be&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>With each statement, imagine yourself being in that state.<\/p>\n<p>Following the recent unsettling events at work, I needed this practice as a way of creating some sense of peace and security in my life, so I used that to create my metta statements.<\/p>\n<p><em>May I be happy.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>May I be healthy.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>May I be humble.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>May I be at peace.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>And so it is.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This weekly column is all about finding those happy moments that exist in the midst of the proverbial shit.<\/p>\n<p>Feeling safe and healthy are assets that allow us to better function each day.<\/p>\n<p>Humbleness is something I strive for and something I have been trying to remember this past week. It would be so easy to get drawn into other people&#8217;s desire to reign supreme by bullying others&#8230;to strike back&#8230;to take on that attitude of &#8220;show them who&#8217;s boss.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But this isn&#8217;t me, Journeyer.  Yes, I have a great need to be seen and heard, something I&#8217;m working on because the most important to be seen and heard by is Self.<\/p>\n<p>We  don&#8217;t need to assert rank to feel important or to be recognized.<\/p>\n<p>What we need is love, compassion, and humility.<\/p>\n<p>Which leads us to the next part of the metta process, blessing others.<\/p>\n<p>On this Mother&#8217;s Day and each day forward, I offer you this blessing:<\/p>\n<p><em>May you be happy.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>May you be healthy.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>May you be humble.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>May you be filled with peace.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>And so it is. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Wishing you and yours a beautiful day.<\/p>\n<p>Until next we meet, yours in hope, healing, and happiness,<\/p>\n<p>~ Annah Elizabeth<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Happy Sunday, Journeyer!
